EUDR requirements and how we prepare for it

Our commitment

The aim of the EUDR regulation is fully in line with the commitment of Blaser Trading to reduce the negative impact of coffee production on the environment.

The EU had originally planned to introduce the EUDR Regulation from January 1, 2025. This deadline has now been postponed by one year to December 30, 2025. Blaser Trading will ensure that we only sell EUDR-compliant coffee to our customers in the EU by then. On request and subject to availability, also to customers in Switzerland and outside an EU country. We will work with you to ensure that your green coffee is delivered with all the necessary information.

The EUDR regulation briefly explained:

EUDR is a regulation and stands for the EU Regulation on deforestation-free products. The objective of the EU regulation is to halt deforestation. Coffee is one of the seven commodities included and thus required to be “deforestation-free” from cut-off date of 31.12.2020.

The EUDR came into force on June 29, 2023. By December 30 2025, all coffee that is placed on the EU market and made legally available, must be EUDR-compliant.

Due-Diligence Statement DDS

A due diligence declaration (DDS) must be uploaded to the EUDR information system for each delivery by December 30 2025. Art. 9 of the Directive specifies the information that is required to be in the DDS:

  • - type of coffee
  • - quantity
  • - country of production
  • - geolocation of all plots of land where the coffee has been produced
  • - production in accordance with relevant country legislation

Risk Assessment (Art. 10) and Risk mitigation (Art. 11)

It is also mandatory to conduct regular risk assessment of the supply chains and have risk mitigation procedures and measures in place to effectively manage risks.
